Research

At the APEX Lab (Assessments, Perceptions, and Experiences) at Hofstra University, my goal is to advance the science and practice of fair, effective, and evidence-based talent recruitment and assessment processes. I study how people experience the hiring process, from the way job ads shape intentions and expectations to how technology-mediated interviews influence perceptions, trust, and performance. My projects span candidate experience, assessment design and innovation, and organizational decision-making, with a strong emphasis on creating fair experiences for job seekers.
My approach is interdisciplinary, applied, and impact-driven. I collaborate with employers, government agencies, and research partners to design data-driven, practical solutions that enhance both organizational outcomes and individual experiences. I have examined public safety hiring processes, cognitive ability testing, asynchronous video interviews, and the psychological needs underlying job seeker behavior. Across all projects, I focus on bridging the gap between research and practice, ensuring that findings are not only academically rigorous but also usable in the real world.
